Why are you offering classes at such a low price?

H: £75 is a lot of money to a lot of people. We realise that lots of other writing courses and schools, retreats and online classes charge a fortune! We realise that £75 for a full day of classes is incredibly good value – that’s why we’re doing it! We created The Author School to provide honest, realistic, helpful advice for authors regardless of their budget or experience. We want the publishing sector to be less about how much money you’ve got and more about how much writing talent you’ve got.

A: I am a young author writing for a young adult audience. I wrote my first book aged 12 and my first novel was published when I was 24. Most people don’t have a lot of spare cash when they’re at college or university, or in their early 20s, but they may have a lot of amazing ideas and incredible writing talent. Why should they be put off from learning more about the publishing industry – and what they can do to make their book a success – because they can’t afford the courses that cost hundreds or even thousands?

Where else will the courses be held?

H: I’m a Yorkshire-girl by birth and love spending time in the North of England. It makes sense to offer a course in other parts of the UK, of course, as well as New York, Sydney, anywhere we can offer effective, practical support to new and established authors seeking to increase their options. We’re really ambitious but we have to take this one step at a time. The more support we get from within the industry – as well as from writers – the more likely it is that we can start expanding the reach of our courses as early as 2016.

Will there be other course dates?

A: Absolutely! We always update on our website and social media and we have an online course available.

I'm an author and I have a book that I want reviewed. How can I get it to you?

A: You can send us a free copy of your book and at our classes, we have a table filled with free books that the writers are allowed to take. We will encourage them to give you a review on Amazon or Goodreads. Please email us, so we can send you more details.
